This lovely brooch has a hidden secret: the yellow melon-shaped half ball is vaseline glass. How do we know? It fluoresces beautifully under a black light. Other elements include a light pink glass flower; rose montees; and pink, green and purple rhinestones amid a flower garden of brass mountings. Marked “Miriam Haskell” with the horseshoe mark dating this piece to the late 1940s. Measures 1 3/4” across and 1/2” thick due to the dimensional layered elements. Condition is excellent with no excessive wear.
