Coro patented this cute little Gene Verri bug design in 1944. They were apparently sold individually as patented, as pairs of "Twinkling Twins," and as part of a Duette. This one is made of gold-washed sterling with a clear Lucite belly and clear rhinestone accents. The eyes are small sapphire blue bullet cabochons. Marked "Coro" and Sterling on the body and the clip. It measures 1 1/2" across. Condition is excellent with minor scratching to the Lucite"belly" and slight patina to the sterling that can be cleaned if the new owner so desires. The pin clip, also referenced as a fur clip, functions perfectly. This piece appears in “Warman’s Costume Jewelry” by Pamela Y. Wiggins (Krause, 2014) on p. 212.
