A sweet 19" antique Kestner character doll. Her head has a 10-1/2" circumference, her bisque is incised made in germany // J.D.K. // 260 // 43/47. She has no hairlines, chips or repairs (one cheek has a rub). She has multi-stroke feathered brows, painted upper and lower lashes, original hand blown glass blue-gray sleep eyes set on a weighted rocker (they need a little adjusting), painted eye lids, accented nostrils, an opened/closed mouth with 4 upper teeth, lovely lips with shading lines, a chubby little face with double chin, a chin dimple and cheery rosy cheeks. Her wonderful red braided wig is mohair and accessorized with marcasite barrettes and millinery flower ties. She's just as cute as a button!
Her antique German composition and wood ball jointed body has the Cuno, Otto & Dressel stamp with a red stamped Holz-masse mark. It is in very good condition but shows a little wear at the joints and has a few small cracks. It is tightly strung and the finish is original.
She is wearing a beautiful drop waist silk dress with a lacy bodice, pleated skirt, attached jacket with a split bib collar that has dark blue trim that gives it a Navy look, it buttons in the back. It was professional made by a talented seamstress and includes an under dress with silk skirt and gauze top. There is also a decorative silk navy blue bow that came with the costume and can be pinned in front or back to accessorize the dress (both ways are pictured), It could even be used in the hair. Her vintage under-dress (slip) is sleeveless, has a gauze top and silk pleated bottom the silk has a little tattering in the back. She is also wearing a cotton onesie that buttons down the back and sides. Her black weaved socks are antique and original and she also has a sweet pair of antique toddler type shoes that are incised with the number 5 on both soles.
A real sweetie - ready to display!
