Depose Jumeau Bébé - Early French Bisque Doll - Petite size - Exquisite!
The early French bisque socket head incised is marked "Depose 5". The pale pressed bisque is creamy and lovely. She has dark blond multi-stroked eyebrows, painted upper and lower eyelashes, remarkable original blue paperweight eyes with threaded irises, closed mouth with lip shading line and high peaks on upper lip, pierced ears, factory original cork pate and blonde mohair wig (a little sparse, but still lovely), factory original composition and wood Jumeau body with attached ball joints and straight wrists with Jumeau blue stamp on back. She is wearing an antique, completely fantastic rose satin and cream lace frock! There is an original paper label under the hem that says, "Isabel 1880" (someone wrote 75 over the 80 in red). This early costume is perfect for her, and probably has been on her for most of her life. it is exquisite! This gorgeous satin dress has a rows of lacey ruffles front and back and the original lovely matching ruffled bonnet as well as original matching socks and fantastic rose satin shoes. (Socks a bit dingy, but in excellent shape. The antique shoes are wonderful with just a little fabric wear and missing shoe buttons, but display beautifully!). The maker's mark "Skinner",a high end maker of silks and satins, is woven on the interior of the dress. This frock was very expensive at the time it was created for her around 100 years ago!
This is an EXTRAORDINARY hard to find early (ca 1880's) Petite Early French Jumeau Bébé Doll in just the right small cabinet size for displaying. Her early pale bisque socket head is remarkable and near mint with the exception of a few factory mold flaws (a raised ripple in the forehead and a tiny line at the top edge of the crown, done in the making). There are no hairlines, rubs or repairs. One eye has a tiny scratch in the pupil that is very hard to see and a very tiny nibble at one earring hole opening.
Her composition and wood Jumeau body with attached ball joints and straight wrists retains the original finish and is in excellent condition. It is stamped in the Jumeau blue ink "JUMEAU // MEDAILLE D'OR // PARIS". She is tightly strung and poses beautifully.
Under her wonderful antique dress is her original heavy half slip, pantaloons, matching socks and her rose colored satin shoes. Impressed on the soles are "5" and Germany. The dress is excellent but has a few areas that could use minor mending but displays wonderfully exactly as it is. Antique frocks like these are very hard to come by. I am adding earrings, she will come with them.
The antique stuffed animals look sweet with her but will be sold separately.
This wonderful, very rare early Depose Jumeau is ready for display - She is even more lovely in person - my pics don't do her justice!
