This is a lovely 9 5/8" diameter Japanese Cloisonne plate. The piece has a center design of silver-wired flowers and leaves set against a goldstone field. The inner diaper has a geometric flavor and the designs beyond that includes stylized chrysanthemums and leaves along with yellow-wired arabesques against a black enamel background. The plate dates from the Meiji Era and has the typical pitting of the enamels of the time as well as minor edge discoloration of some of the enameling due to oxidation . This piece is in very nice condition with no chips, cracks, losses or repairs, either to the front enamels or the reverse counter enameling. There are a few light, minute surface scratches in the center on the front but nothing that detracts from the overall appeal of the piece. A beautiful cabinet piece.
