Maud Humphrey 1890 Lithograph of A Christmas Stocking - Two Young Girls
This piece shows two young girls with a doll in a red stocking. In the background are holly decorations for Christmas. It is shown on page 142 of the book titled Maud Humphrey by Karen Choppa & Paul Humphrey. It is called "A Christmas Stocking" and is from the book "Baby Sweethearts" published in 1890.
Below the image is "Copyright 1890 by Frederick A. Stokes & Brother." In 1890 the publishing company became known as Frederick A. Stokes Co. Maud Humphrey's signature is very faint and is at the lower left of the base that the girl on the left is standing on.
It is in a wood frame that is beige, brown, and black. It measures approximately 19 1/4" tall and 15 1/4" wide. The image is under a beige matting. It has glass on the front, an old cardboard backing, with a wire for hanging.
The frame has some nicks, most visible at the upper left where a small piece of the black trim is missing. The glass could use a cleaning on the inside but I didn't want to take it apart. It has some paper dust under the glass.
Still a very lovely piece for Christmas. Please email me if you would like to see any additional photos.
