Abraham Lincoln Reading to Son Tad - Cast Iron Signed Bookends

This is a nice pair of cast iron bookends depicting Abraham Lincoln reading to his son Tad (1853-1871). It's a nice image of Lincoln as a family man, rather than President.

They are shown in the Kuritzky encyclopedia of bookends in plate 1426, as well as the McBride collector's guide on page 93.

The front has the name of the sculptor, O. P. Muller along with the year 1922. I read that this is Olga Popoff Muller (1883-1980), an American sculptor. On the back are the letters M.P., along with Medallium or Medallion.

The bookends measure approximately 7 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" wide and weigh close to 5 pounds unpacked. They have a gold color.

As you can see, some of the paint is missing, but they are an uncommon pair of bookends and a nice addition to a Lincoln collection. Please email me if you would like to see any additional photos.
