Antique Wood and Zinc Pharmacy Trade Sign Union Maine

This is one of the oldest and most spectacular Pharmacy Mortar and Pestle trade signs we have seen. The sign is a zinc mortar with a wood rim at the top and one mid way down the sign. The round wood rims are hand joined and appear to be oak, as is the mortar. There are still traces of gold gild all over the sign and it appears that it was painted white on the inside. The iron work is very old and we have matched it with an early Philadelphia iron hanger that is included.

The pestle is wood and on the top visible portion exists. It is attached to the iron framework inside.The sign is 33" high overall, 21" across the top of the mortar and 15" across the base.
