Vintage 1958 Nelson Eddy Autograph on Queen Elizabeth Hotel Montreal Menu

Other guests have included Prince Charles, General Charles de Gaulle, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of India, Zhao Ziyang of China, His Highness Felipe of Spain, Jacques Chirac, Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, President Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger, Perry Como, Harry Belafonte, Joan Crawford, John Travolta, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Louis Malle - John Lennon and Yoko Ono held their famous "Bed-In for Peace" there in 1968. The autograph is made out to "Claire", who was Claire Diemer - unfortunately, her parents started divorce proceedings in 1954 over religious differences (the divorce decree is accessible on the internet) and the divorce judgment was chosen as one of the top ten landmark divorce rulings by the Huffington Post.

This is an interesting autograph, not only because it features an autograph by a famous singer/actor, but because it also has a connection to a famous divorce case - even the menu is interesting because it is from the first year of the Queen Elizabeth hotel's operations.....the menu measures 13" by 9 1/8" closed and is in very good condition except for a 1' edge tear.
