This is a vintage ceramic footed dish/wall plaque made during the 1960s in San Marino. The dish features a girl on the top, scratched into the ceramic using the "sgraffito" technique. The piece is also decorated with raised enamel detailing on the girl and the girl is set against a gloss black background against a "lava" textured charcoal surface. The back is hand painted with "S.A. Souvenir".
The dish has a hole drilled through the underside rim so that it can be hung on a wall.
It measures 11 5/8" by 4 1/4" and weighs 418 grams (14.7 oz).
It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or wear - this was bought in Italy and brought back by the lady from whom I acquired it, so it was lovingly preserved over the years.
Wonderful mid-century Italian pottery dish.
