B&H Hanging Parlor Oil Lamp - Gorgeous Calla Lily Painted Shade

For your consideration, we offer this 19th century Victorian hanging parlor oil lamp. This is a known Bradley & Hubbard patterned frame and the top canopy is signed. It has not been electrified but since the burner is easily removed,it could be replaced with an electric conversion with ease.

The lamp, as pictured, is 35 inches from top of hanger to bottom of the pull down on the bottom. The top cast iron motor triangular hanger is marked with the B&H logo as well as a couple patent dates which are difficult to read but I believe they are the 1885 patent dates which cover the spring suspension of the motor retractor. The lamp can be extended further or shortened if desired by adjusting the tension.

This lamp has an absolutely gorgeous hand painted shade which I believe is Crown Milano glass made by the Mt. Washington Glass Company. It is that good a quality. The shade is a satin finish on the outside with a soft pink background painted and beautiful large Calla Lily sprays. The lilies have heavy raised gold stipples in the center of each flower. It is simply beautiful. Please note that in the picture of the whole hanging lamp, the shade color is not strong. This is because of the camera flash. It is more like the pictures showing the shade alone.

The Calla Lily symbolizes magnificence and beauty, purity and innocence. the Calla Lily was frequently used in wedding bouquets because of these qualities.

The shade is 14 inches in diameter and is a high dome 6 3/4 inches tall with a 6 inch top rim. There is a larger floral bouquet on front, smaller on the back which is typical of this 19th century decorating method.

There is an old pattern glass oil font and an unsigned Success type burner & chimney. The prisms are all old and some may have minor chips. The chimney is the only replacement I noted on the lamp.

Please send an email if you have any questions.

The shade will be double boxed and sent via Priority Mail. The remaining parts will be shipped Standard Post, previously called Parcel Post. I estimate it to be approximately $85 for both boxes plus insurance. If the cost is less, we will refund, if more we will pick up the extra cost. We accept payment in U.S. funds: money orders, checks or PayPal.

Should you find other items in our store you wish to purchase at the same time, we will be happy to combine shipments where possible to save you shipping/insurance dollars. In this case, please do not pay the invoice until items are combined and an updated invoice is sent.
