Here we have a very fine original Ideal Composition Shirley Temple doll dress. The dress is from the 1930s. It was made in the likeness of a dress Shirley wore in the movie "Curly Top". The dress is made from a dark powder blue cotton pique fabric. It has three large pleats in the front with an embroidered bodice edge. The dress has short puffed sleeves and fastens in back with two original buttons. There are two star shaped flowers embroidered on bodice and a star shaped flower embroidered on each sleeve. There is remnant of a size tag at back seam, hem edge. The original Ideal tag is missing, but I do guarantee this dress to be an original Ideal Shirley Temple composition doll dress. It is not a repro. As you can see in the pics, the elastic in sleeves has lost its elasticity and some of the embroidery stitches have come loose, which would be an easy fix for a sewer. There is one tiny dot on the back skirt, near hem(please see pics)but aside from that dress is really in excellent condition. If you look on the wrong side of dress there appears to be a seam mend, but it was done very well and from the front you would never know. Dress measures about 7.5" long and about 6" across underarm to underarm. My guess an 18" Shirley Temple, but of course please measure your doll to be sure. Please email if you have any questions and as always thanks for looking!
