This set of six (6) Mother-of-Pearl handle fruit knives is lovely. The opalescent color of the Mother-of-Pearl is truly outstanding! The band connected to the handle blade is sterling silver with an ornate leaf motif. The knife blades are silver plate and they are in very good condition.
The length of each knife from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade is 6 ¼" long X ½" at the widest point. The condition of the knives is very good. There is one very small crimp in the tip of one of the blades. I am sure a jeweler or a silversmith could easily address this, yet I certainly do not find this offensive one bit. As to be expected for knives of this age, there are some surface scratches on the blades due to use. Each blade has the initials "J.R. & Co." which stands for the company that sold the knives originally. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines. Circa 1890-1900.
