This beautiful spode (milk) pitcher is in incredible condition. The base color is a soft sand with deep green accents. The top and base of the pitcher has two (2) bands of design resembling "X's" and "dots" with a green band of leaves in white raised relief between.
The body of this beautiful pitcher is in green with a hunting scene of hounds, horses and a rider in white raised relief wrapping around the entire body of the pitcher. The scene is quite detailed showing the hounds with their prey in the final part of the design.
The marks on the bottom of this pitcher read "Copeland late Spode" in brown with a sailboat on water for "W. T. Copeland and Sons 1867". Under that trademark it reads "R I No. 180288 England". Impressed in the pottery where it also reads "Copeland England 18". All the marks are under the glaze.
The pitcher is 7" high X 5 ¾" (from the outside of the handle to the outside of the spout). The base is 4 ½" round. The handle is 3 ¾" high X 1 ½" deep. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines, circa late 1800's.
