This Nippon jam pot is wonderful! I love the hand painted berries and leaves. The art work is great and the subject is so appropriate for this container. When guests spend the night at your home, or drop by to say hello in the morning, and you serve them toast or an English muffin in the morning, the highlight of breakfast would be serving jam from this container.
I am sure most people would be surprised and find this pot a neat and fun way to serve themselves jam. It certainly will be a conversation piece.
The jam pot has its original underplate. The marks on the bottom of the pot read "Nippon", coupled with the rising sun mark, all in blue. The underplate has no markings. The pot is 5 ¾" high X 4" wide (across the top) X 3 ¾" (across the base). The underplate is 6" in diameter X 1" high.
The condition of this piece is very good. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines, circa 1900-1910.
