This Blue Ridge opalescent bowl is gorgeous. If I did not know better, I could easily conclude this piece has the look of art glass. The blue is extremely vibrant in color especially bordering the soft opalescent swirl color. This bowl was made to be used as a fruit bowl, yet it truly has many potential uses in one's home.
I think, when not filled with fruit, I would fill it with a fragrant potpourri and set it on a coffee table or as a centerpiece on the dining room table.
It measures 9" X 3" tall X 3 ¼" (across the base). In a portion of the bottom of the bowl there is a "yellow hue" which is a manufacturer's defect - in the making. There are no chips, crack or hairlines, circa 1930-1940.
