This antique open vegetable dish is so lovely it would be outstanding on a display rack or as a service piece on you dinner table.
The rich colorful design features peonies among simpler daisy type blooms in pinks and orange with deep cobalt leaves all set off with accents of purple and a soft green. The outside edge is gold. There are also gold accents throughout the leaves.
The dish is rectangular with soft curves. The stamp marks on the back read "Cauldon England" in purple under the glaze. Printed is orange under the glaze is "L-291" with an "F" to one side,
The base of the dish is 4 ½" X 6 ½". The dish is 9 ½" wide at the corners, 8 ½" at the narrowest point. From handle to handle is 12".
The condition is very good. There is some crazing as well as some light rubbing to the gold edge, not at all unusual for a piece of this age. Neither deters from the beautiful look or function of this piece. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines, circa 1802-1814.
