This antique porcelain Gaudy Welsh pepper grinder is most unusual. It's transparent porcelain was made in the Swansea area of England. The body texture of this piece is simply wonderful! Blue flowers and a deep rose color swag surround the bulbous middle section of this pepper grinder.
As you can see, there is a fine gold luster on the top of the glazed body. The handle on the crank has a very delicate button shape to it. The pepper grinder itself has a little rust residue but the mechanism works beautifully.
Personally, I love the look of this grinder.
The grinder is 4" tall X 1 ¾" wide (widest part) X 2" wide (at base). There is a small finial on the top of the grinder. The final slides open and allows you to add pepper corns to the grinder. The condition of the grinder is very good. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines, circa 1830-40's.
