Antique Chocolate Slag Glass Covered Butter Dish

The chocolate slag glass covered butter dish is a fabulous example of chocolate glass, first developed in 1900 by Jacob Rosenthal. This covered butter dish is in the coffee-with-cream hue. The pattern is "Geneva". What a beautiful piece this would be to use, or simply display, on your dinner table. It certainly would bring forth some great compliments.

The base of the butter dish sits on three (3) feet. The "Geneva" pattern is a beautiful design consisting of scrolls and scallops. The cover to the butter dish has a wonderful four (4) section fiddlehead type finial.

This impressive butter dish is unusual in that I rarely see slag glass now. This piece would enhance any collection or be a dramatic statement by itself!

The butter dish and cover are in very good condition. The edge of the cover has a very minor chip otherwise there are no chips, cracks or hairlines. The butter dish has no chips, cracks or hairlines.

The butter dish is 7 ½ " wide X 1 ½" high. The cover is 4 ¼" high X 5" wide. With the cover on the base the butter dish, the piece is 5" high.
