Antique Chocolate Slag Glass Compote

This chocolate slag glass compote is fabulous! Chocolate glass was developed in 1900 by Jacob Rosenthal in colors ranging from dark brown, coffee and cream. This color blend has a specific name, this being "coffee-with-cream". This beautiful compote is a perfect example of the coffee and cream color.

The compote stands on a pedestal base with herringbone ribs, scallop design around the base and daisy-type flowers. At the top of the pedestal the bowl connects to six (6) protruding scallops.

The bowl of the compote repeats the same design as the bowl's base with a ribbed scalloped edge all around the top. This piece would look absolutely beautiful with fresh fruit, however, I have no problem having this piece simply as a "stand alone" piece as it is ostentatious!

This compote is in very good condition. There is a bit of roughage to the touch on four (4) of the scallops on the base of the bowl, but they in no way detract from the beauty of this unusual piece. There are no cracks or hairlines. The compote is 8" high X 8" across the top X 5" across the bottom.
