Japanese Carved Ivory Carp (Fish), Vintage
This carved ivory fish is unreal. The carved detail is so incredibly done that the fish is truly "life like". I assume that this fish was carved and sold as a novelty piece since I can't think what else it could be used for. Regardless, the fish is fun and it certainly has its own personality.
I acquired this ivory from an old time retired antique dealer. She is 81 and is beginning to part with some of her collections.
The fish is 2 ¼" tall X 1" wide. The condition is very good. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines. Circa is 1920's.
Under California Penal Code 653o it is unlawful for us to sell ivory pieces to residences of California.
