I think this antique door stop is an absolute hoot! The name of this doorstop is called “Judy” (as in Punch & Judy). It is English in origin. The original paint is scuffed and has paint loss. Personally, I think the imperfections and wear on this doorstop give it character.
I have an old reference book on doorstops and the author states that there are variations in paint. Many doorstops came in more than one paint combination. This particular “Judy” doorstop is painted in mustard outfit and platform where as her bonnet and skirt ruffle are in black, This doorstop is highly desirable.
This “Judy” is 11 ¾” tall X 8 ¾” wide (across the base) and weighs 6.09 lbs., circa 1900. The condition is “as found” as it obviously has been used a great deal.
