This set of four (4) shell & tassel pattern glass sauce dishes is very attractive looking. Personally I’d serve ice cream or mixed berries with a dob of whipped cream on the top! They also would be great used as individual mint or nut dishes.
The shell pattern encompasses all four (4) corners and the tassel pattern is housed on all four (4) clear glass panels. These sauce dishes were made by Duncan & Co., circa early 1800’s.
The sauce dishes are 3 ¾” square X 1 ¾” high. Based on the age of these sauce dishes, I feel the condition is very good. There is some roughage around the upper and lower rim on all four (4). It is hard to say whether most of the roughage is in the making. It is my opinion that this roughage occurred in the making.
I can attest to one chip on the upper rim of one (1) dish and a very slight nicks on the lower rims of all four (4) dishes – these, in my opinion, are due to use. Personally, I think they are in incredible condition for their age.
