This handsome hand painted Limoge lemonade pitcher is beautifully decorated with clusters of grapes painted in greens, plum, lavender and a deep rose mauve. The upper lip of the pitcher and handle are gold.
I can see this beautiful hand painted pitcher displayed on a formal buffet or in your favorite china closet. It certainly would serve as a focal point in any setting!
The imprint on the bottom of the pitcher, under the glaze, is “D & C – France”. The pitcher is 11” tall, 6 ½” wide (outer handle to tip of spout) and 5 ¼” wide at the base. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines. There is some loss of gold on the handle and upper rim due to usage, which is very normal, circa 1894-1900.
