Tobacciana: Advertising: Pipe Case: "Hanley's Peerless Ale" Pipe Case
The clay pipe is quite unusual as it has a stamp on the side of the stem which reads “Scotland” and two raised initials, “R.D.”, on the back of the bowl.
The tin pipe case is truly unique! On the side of the tin case is an advertising with the words: “Hanley’s Peerless Ale”. The tin case is hinged and the hinge works perfectly.
I feel the pipe and the tin case are in good condition. The tin case does have a little corrosion on a portion of the case, yet I do not find it to be offensive at all considering the age of the piece and the use it has had over the years.
I feel the two pieces are early 20th century. The pipe case is 6 ¾ inches long.
The pipe is 6 ½” long inches long (from end of stem to outer portion of the bowl), and the bowl is 1 ¼” X 2 ¼” at its widest part.
