English Potter Thomas Till & Son "Shanghae" 15 1/2" x 12 3/4" Platter
Offered is a 15 1/2" x 12 3/4" platter in the pattern "Shanghae" by Thomas Till & Son.Circa:1850. The mark on the back of the platter was used from 1850-1860. The name was changed to SONS in 1861. Thomas Till worked out of the Stych pottery in Burslem, Staffordshire, UK. Platter is in VERY good used condition. The back shows that it was used. the front in remarkable condition for age. Edges have some crazing and loss of glaze but isn't noticeable when hung or on a stand. I am including a stand with this piece.. Beautiful Greek key design in border and the interior border with flowers included in the key design at the corners and in the middle. Floral and bird field and florals on inside border before the field. A really lovely platter.
