Vintage Anton Michelsen Gertrude Engel Denmark Sterling Silver Leaf Brooch Pin

Offered today is a beautiful sculptural leaf brooch created by Gertrude Engel during the 1950's for the Anton Michelsen workshop in Denmark. This was considered the most popular design produced by Gertrude Engel for Anton Michelsen. The lovely simple and realistic sterling pin, with the sides of the leaf curled up, measures 2 5/8 inches by 7/8 inches. It is signed with the "AM crown logo, STERLING DENMARK, G Engel in script" and closes with a roll over safety clasp. Beautifully crafted – this timeless treasure is in excellent vintage condition!

The Anton Michelsen Silversmiths was founded in 1841 and then purchased by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufacturer in 1968. Georg Jensen was apprenticed to Anton Michelsen in the 1890s. Several of the most popular late 20th century Jensen pieces were actually designed for Michelsen.
