One of several excellent, large antique French tablecloths that I was lucky enough to acquire this week. This one is circa 1890 to 1920, heavy linen with hand embroidered white work embroidery depicting bows, flowers, ferns, thistles, clover. Has rows of French split bundle faggoting, and rows of hemstitching. Hemstitched wide border hems. It measures an extremely wide 107 x 92 inches. The table it is shown on here is of course nowhere large enough to show it properly, but it is beautiful in person. It can also be used as a summer coverlet if laid width wise on a queen or double bed.
It is in absolutely excellent condition with NO issues. It has been freshly hand laundered using conservation methods and is ready for your immediate enjoyment, or safe storage until use. There is a small yellow sticker mark at one corner as shown, from decades of storage with an estate inventory sticker, this was in the private collection of an elderly textile dealer, who failed to remove the sticker before storing it. I did NOT treat this aggressively, as I do not feel it worth the potential stressing of the fibers to treat aggressively, as sticker marks must be treated, for the sake of perfection on an antique piece.
