4 Italian Pillowcases Linen Red Monogram P F Lace Heavy

Very vintage early 1920s Italian heavy thick linen and cotton blend set of four pillowcases, with red work monogram P.F. on each, trimmed with red and white crocheted lace on the pointed scalloped hem embellishment, and closing with a placket with mother of pearl buttons, made for an early 1920s first generation Italian American bride by a family member. They are a pale natural color, and the red has softened with age and varied slightly from one to the other as typical for age and antique dyes. They measure 27.25 x 20 inches, not including the decorative hem treatments. Excellent condition, one small fiber break on the back of one as shown. They are darkened and speckled from decades of storage, and will need to be soaked prior to use. I recommend a product called Restoration, locate online by typing Restoration linen cleaner into the search box. I am listing numerous linens this week from the same estate, that of a woman in her 90s and these Italian pieces were her from her mother's trousseau, married in the early 1920s, a first generation Italian American bride. Many items were sent from family in Italy for wedding gifts, and very few were ever used.
