This was a fine and expensive piece in its day, but was used and cleaned and repaired regularly, having separated along the fine hemstitching lines, common to fine linen constructed thus. It has numerous fine repairs and breaks, examples shown, which are not the least noticeable in use or at first look, but are definitely present. Therefore sold as is, in need of TLC, with plenty of use left in this beautiful cloth, but needing attention and care in future cleaning and ironing. A beautiful piece from a time when fine table linens were at their most exquisite, but were fragile and did show signs of use and stress from ironing after just a few cleanings due to fine weave and method of construction. It has been freshly hand laundered and is ready for immediate use. Note: insurance for this item can be declined by the buyer at the time of purchase order, it preferred.
