Exquisite and unique Victorian 14K (tested) seed pearl and tassel necklace. Three circular pendants (two in matching size and the center one a larger version) extend from a delicate 14K (marked)link chain. Each one is modeled as a wreath with an inner and outer ring of tiny seed pearls. Luscious overlapping gold leaves embellish the inside of the wreath. A multitude of gold tassels with seed pearl accents dangle from the wreath. A matching tab is attached at the top of the wreath. The larger pendant measures 1.25" in diameter. The two smaller ones measure approximately 1" diameter. The longest gold dangle is about 1/2" long. The chain measures 6.5" long from the clasp to the smaller pendant on each side. From the clasp to the bottom of the longest pendant is 9 3/8". The necklace is in very good antique condition with all pearls, dangles, and leaves intact. The gold on one of the smaller pendants is somewhat brighter and may have a higher gold content (see photos). It is possible that these were at one time an earrings and brooch set.
Leather box is not original to the piece, but is included.
Seed pearl jewelry was associated with pureness and innocence. A gift of seed pearl jewelry was often given to a girl on her 18th birthday or to a bride before her wedding. This would make a wonderful heirloom piece to pass down for future brides.
