Antique English Tazza/Cake Plate Cat & Rooster Aesop's Fables
Aesthetic Movement footed cake plate/tazza from the Nature series by Staffordshire pottery Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. This hard-to-find plate is circa 1862-1904. It illustrates the Fontaine's/Aesop's fable of the cat and the rooster. Attentive pose of the mouse in the foreground as the smug cat contemplates having the crowing rooster for his meal. The transferware images are crisp and clear with great detail. The plate measures approximately 8.75" in diameter and 2" tall. Tazza is in good antique condition with a small chip on the back (see photo) and some wear around the edges of the plate. A charming piece to display.
