Exquisite and impressive antique Chinese porcelain lidded vase in the famille jaune pattern with yellow ground. Skillfully decorated with phoenix birds, dogwood blossoms, and peonies. The vase sets on a carved rosewood stand. Of superior quality, the vase with lid measures approximately 18" tall and with stand is 20.5" tall. The base is approximately 7 11/16" in diameter. The lid contains a Chinese paper mark (see photo). Both the lid and base are unglazed. The stand has a paper label with the owner's name--John B. Ryerson Cooperstown, New York. John Ryerson was a famous amateur golfer who won 425 golf tournaments. He was one of the last survivors of the sinking Titanic. This fabulous vase came from his Palm Beach estate. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks, the only issue is a dark glaze line on the back (see photo). The vase dates to the late 19th-early 20th century. Additional photos upon request. A fabulous decorative piece with interesting history.
