High Relief Silverplated Nautilus Spoon Warmer by Atkin Brothers
Exquisite Victorian silverplated nautilus spoon warmer by Sheffield silversmiths the Atkin Brothers. The shape of the warmer is of a nautilus shell which stands upon a rocky base. Beautifully decorated with hand engraved designs of seaweed, ferns, and foliate motifs. The hinged lid which opens to hold the spoon has a scalloped edge and intricate decoration. Marked on the base with "A B" and the number 2350, it dates to circa 1880's. There is some wear to the plate in places and minor pitting which is to be expected on a piece this age. In my opinion, this gives it that aged patina so sought after. No dings or dents. The piece measures 6" long by 4" deep by 6" high. A highly collectable spoon warmer with the most elegant embellishments that I have seen. A real work of art.
