Elegant French bronze champleve mirror with an easel back for standing. Or, if you wish, a ring for hanging. Refined champleve design surrounds the oval border in colors of black, red, royal blue, and french blue. The top of the mirror is embellished with a most regal bronze finial with a crown engraved in the cartouche. Floral garlands cascade down from the finial. A pair of charming bronze birds with outstretched wings light on branches on either side of the base. The beveled mirror is in good antique condition with a few minor spots of loss to the silvering. The back and easel are also bronze----a sign of high quality. The piece has a wonderful aged bronze patina with a trace of verdigris which gives it that fabulous antique patina. It could be polished if you so desire----but I love it just the way it has mellowed over the years. The mirror measures 8.5" tall by 5 1/8" wide. It dates to the the late 19th century. I believe it could also be used as a picture frame by unscrewing the back and removing the mirror. A fabulous piece at an attractive price.
