Large 19th century tole tray with lovely stenciled design in luscious fall colors. The central motif is a basket of fruits and flowers in various shades of green, orange, and rust with gold accents. All along the border are stenciled flowers spilling to the rolled edge. The tray measures 22.5" long by 16.75" tall. The tray has a crazed finish from some type of varnish that was applied long ago but has kept the design intact and given it a wonderful old patina. Some minor chipping paint only along the edge which does not show from the front. It does look like there might have been some stenciled grapes below the basket, but are no longer there ( I only noticed this when I was taking photos in the bright light). This does not detract at all and I would say the tray is in very good antique condition. These antique trays are wonderful for display and occasional use.
