Elegant patinated bronze sculpture on marble plinth of "Crouching Venus". The crouching Venus theme was used by sculptors after an original Hellenistic design attributed to Daidalos of Bithynia (200B.C.-100B.C.) This particular piece pictures nude Venus crouching, her arms crossed and her head turned to the right. The sculpture dates to the late 19th-early 20th century. It measures 12.25" high including the base by 6.5" wide. It is in very good antique condition with a few areas of roughness and a repaired corner on the marble base. Mentioned for accurateness, but is not distracting. A fabulous piece to use in all décor from modern to antique. A show piece!
