A 19th century Viennese jewelry casket of superior quality. The ebonized casket contains eleven exquisite handpainted plaques depicting classical scenes and three interior drawers with handpainted garlands. Each plaque is held in place with delicate bronze mounts. Each corner of the casket is embellished with Corinthian columns surmounted with miniature bronze putti holding rings. The finial on top is a minaiture bronze bust of a distinguished royal figure. It stands on four bun feet. On the bottom is a handwritten note that says "Purchased in Palm Springs Cal in 1935". I assume this was a momento purchased by the last owner on a trip. The piece measures 7" tall to the top of the bust by 6" wide by 4.75" deep. In very good antique condition. Possibly one tiny restoration to the left corner of one of the smaller plaques (which may be the way it was made). Very minor. No key. Additional photos may be requested.
