For D.S. 19th c. Oil Sheep in Stable by Austrian Adolf Nowey

Charming interior stable scene of sheep,a goat, and chickens by Austrian artist Adolf Nowey (1835). Oil on panel measuring 15.5" long by 10" high. I love the stream of sunlight coming in the stable door as the farm animals seem to be expectantly waiting for someone. A beautiful depiction of these peaceful animals. Signed lower right Ad Nowey. Housed in a gold frame which accents the piece nicely. The wood panel has warped from age, but has been fitted in the frame and is not noticeable when hung. There is also another signature which someone has written on the back--Franz Van Severdonck. But this is clearly not his work and is a mystery why it is there. A wonderful pastoral scene which is so pleasing to admire.
