Antique English treenware pocket watch holder for your prized pocket watch. Elegantly simplistic in style, this piece has aged to a fabulous rich patina. The pocket watch is suspended from a hook at the top and the chain is housed in the small compote beneath. This also could have held cufflinks or a ring. The original velvet, which has mellowed to a light brown, lines the back of the round tilting holder. The holder can accommodate a watch up to 2.25"in diameter. However, the velvet circle is only 1.5" in diameter. The entire piece measures 7" tall by 4 5/8" wide at the base. It has a shipping sticker for Scotland, but probably is English from the late 1800's. I believe the top spindle on the left side( when looking at the photo) has been replaced at some time. I only noticed this under close inspection and in bright light. A nice handmade piece!
