Hard-to-find large brown transferware platter by the English pottery Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. in the popular Rhine pattern. This impressive platter measures 17 1/4" by 14" and dates to the period 1862-1904. The border pattern is a beautiful wide scroll and floral garland design. The center scene is of a castle overlooking the Rhine River and shows people working and enjoying the river. It is in absolutely perfect condition and looks as if it were hardly used. The platter has an impressed maker's mark and the number 28. A fabulous platter to use or to display.
