Exceptional Art Deco Period Figural Console with Mirror Onyx Top
This is truly an exceptional piece of Art Deco period furniture in the manner of Oscar Bach. An ornate cast brass plated console with an attached mirror of the same design. The apron of the console is pierced in a wave motif accented with polychrome black and verdigris. The four brass plated legs are embellished with the most wonderful figure of an angel with open wings and hoof feet all in polychrome. The attached cathedral shaped beveled mirror is complete with side candle lights topped with the angel and peacock motif. The finial on top repeats the same design. The piece measures 72" tall by 23" wide--a perfect size to fit in almost any location. From a prominent St.Louis estate,it dates to the 1920's-30's. No signature, but impressed number 980 on each leg. Newly wired, it is in very good vintage condition. The mirror does have some loss of silvering indicative of its age. A few tiny nibbles on the onyx which can be felt but not noticeable. The piece has not been cleaned of age old dust as I tend to like it that way. You may easily wipe it away, if you choose. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind piece which will be a statement piece in your home.
