Unique 19th century figural English inkwell with elements of the sport of horse racing. Jockey cap, horse shoe, and riding boots make up this charming piece. The body of the inkwell is copper with the horseshoe and riding boots composed of silver plate over copper. When the cap is lifted, the removable ink pot is exposed---a nice quality one with a copper rim. The horse shoe looks very realistic and is embellished with fancy "cobalt blue" enameled nails. The inkwell stands on three legs modeled as riding boots. One boot has a missing spur (see photo) which is not noticeable unless pointed out. Two legs wiggle a bit, but are still sturdy and hold the piece up nicely. Measures 4.5" by 4.5" by 2" high. This piece would be fabulous for anyone with equestrian or horse racing interests.
