Beautiful historic silverplated trophy cup/goblet inscribed Bath Regatta 1874 Won by W.H.Symes Knott. Fabulous engraved decoration with high relief fern fronds tied with a bow---my personal favorite Victorian motif. Accented with silver tiny beading around the base and stem. Goblet measures 6.5" high by 3.25" diameter at top. In excellent antique condition with minor plate loss on the base. Some interesting history about the Bath Regatta: The first Bath Grand Regatta was held in July 1849 in a series of races over the Saltford straight. In 1890, the event acquired its long time identity as Saltford Regatta. This piece was awarded in 1874 and would be a wonderful memento for rowing enthusiasts or collectors.
