The T.M. Sinclair company moved into Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1871. They wanted to be closer to the source of the hogs. The company was a source for many jobs during that time period. This pincushion is a premium from that company. It is in the shape of a ham shank. It measures 3-3/4" long x 2-3/4" wide x 1-1/2" deep. It is made of a mustard yellow wool felt. There is a loop at the top.
The label states "T.M. Sinclair - Sugar Cured - Fidelity Smoked Meats - Cedar Rapids - Iowa." The label shows a very early rendition of a large pig!! It has the colors of red, pale blue, off white, black and gray.
This piece shows some dirt. Part of the label is missing. It is worn down to the base close to the label. Still a very nice advertising piece for Cedar Rapids!!
