Presented is an impressive, Chinese carved ivory hand mirror made during the mid to late 1800s or early 1900s(1850 to 1910). This piece is completely hand carved with delicate flower and leaf designs. The carved work is really marvelous and so fine that the flowers seem very delicate and realistic. There are Chinese characters carved into the handle. This piece is missing the oval mirror in the center, but another mirror can be added in its place.
This piece is in pretty good overall condition. As you can see from the photograph below, there are two long vertical splits to the mirror, both of which have been reinforced with epoxy. The mirror is still structurally sound. There are some incredibly small chips to a couple of the flower petals but they really are so tiny that you can only tell upon very close inspection of the decorations. There are no other flaws and no other repairs.
The mirror measures 9 5/8 inches long and is 3 5/8 inches wide.
