Finest Victorian 14 Karat Gold Tortoise Shell Hair Comb

The gold on this piece has been tested with nitric acid and is guaranteed to be 14 karat purity. All of the applied metal on this comb is solid 14 karat gold.

This piece is in superb condition. There are splits to the corners of the top, where the gold border is riveted through. We have shown this in the photographs. Even upon close inspection I cannot see where these two corner cracks meet up. I assume that both of these cracks/lines happened in the making when they riveted the gold to the tortoiseshell. These lines are virtually invisible and would never be noticed in any normal situation, except upon the closest of inspections. I feel that the two corners are quite strong, after all the comb has undoubtedly been this way for over 100 years. I figure if it has lasted this long why worry about it. I just cannot see these corner pieces breaking off. I can find no other problems.

The comb measures 2 1/4 inches wide and is 5 1/4 7inches long.
