Presented is a wonderful piece of ivory carved in traditional form with seven elephants of graduated sizes. The ivory is very nicely carved in realistic detail. The entire piece is carved from a single piece of ivory and mounted on a wooden base. This piece was likely made in China, Burma, or India. They probably date between the 1930s and 1950s. It is impossible to put an exact year on such a piece.
The right tusk on the largest of the elephants is broken off as you can see in the third photograph. The other thirteen tusks are all completely intact. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. The ivory has one fine line along one side, which is visible along the backs of the elephants. This is because the piece of ivory had a line in it before it was carved. This is not a defect. Everything is solid and quite strong. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The piece including the base measures 1 3/4 inches by 12 5/8 inches and stands 3 7/8 inches tall.
