Presented is a wonderful quality carved ivory figurine done in the form of the Hindu deity, Ganesha. The ivory is exceptionally well carved in magnificent detail to depict a deity with the head of an elephant and four arms. The ivory has excellent cross-hatching. The statue has a gold and red sticker on the back that appears to read, ‘Government of Kerala, Quality Control’. Kerala is a state in southwest India. The carving is mounted on a nice wooden base. This piece was made in the 1930s through the 1960s.
The condition is excellent. Everything is completely original. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
Including the base, the figurine measures 1 7/8 inches by 3 inches and stands 5 1/4 inches tall.
