ROYAL CROWN DERBY 'Blue Mikado' c.1922-40 dessert plates (8pc)

Royal Crown Derby eight dessert or pie plates in 'Blue Mikado' pattern, 7". Also suitable for breakfast, tea or light snacks. Like many pre-war services, these are in the original Dover shape with gilded, six-scalloped edges running through the body - very pleasing to the touch. Each plate is generously decorated with a romantic scene from the Mikado story, with our heroine wandering alone in a beautiful garden, crossing a footbridge over a swirling stream when a servant or her lover rushes towards her. This is all beautifully illustrated in royal blue enamel on Crown Derby's famous white bone china. Osmaston Road Factory date cyphers in green: 1922(1), 1923(1), 1925(1), 1931(4), 1940(1).

These plates are part of a large 60 piece estate service that was scarcely used (all available from Muses Antiques, please inquire). Gilding and enamelling are in excellent condition; occasional light utensil marks, no chips, cracks or hairlines. Measures 7"D x 0.5"H
